Ordinary London | Hyde Park & Winter Wonderland

A new post, part of the “Ordinary London” series in collaboration with Yassmine, is readyyy!

This time it will have a Christmas taste! The most beautiful time of the year (at least for me πŸ˜€ ) is getting closer and closer and as you can imagine, London is getting prettier and prettier with all these lights and magical decorations! In addition to this, there are loads of Christmas markets…practically one for every neighbourhood, but for this post we focused our attention on a very special place that during these period of the year becomes a Chirstmas-land!

The place is Hyde Park, one of the largest parks of London, which is already beautiful itself in every season. It’s the prefect place for a picnic, boating, a jog and in general it’s great to spend day outside, forgetting for a while to actually being in a metropolitan city!

I’d strongly suggest to walk around all of it because it’s composed by many different “areas”, for example the speakers corner, the serpentine area (the one near the lake), the rose garden and the Diana memorial fountain. If you don’t have the time to see it all by walk, hiring a bike would be a great solution! Indeed, there are many “bike hiring” spots, where you can easily get one and if you ride it for less than 30 minutes the ride will be free, otherwise they will charge you 2Β£ (which still, compared to the average transportation costs here in London, it’s nothing! πŸ˜‰ )

To make this place even more pleasureful, as announced earlier, from mid-November till the beginning of January there’s a special area of the Park which becomes an amazing Christmas Luna park called ” Winter Wonderland”.

The entrance is free and what you’ll Β find inside is…everything you can imagine! Form food stands to crafty Christmas stands. Loads of game spots and music corners.

Plus, there’s a circus, a giant observation wheel and quite big ice-skating ring which makes this winter-Christmas environment even more cosy. Oh, of course the “Santa Clause village” is also present!

So, as you can see it’s a totally Christmas themed town all to be explored both from families with kids, a Christmassy-date or for an after work wind down πŸ˜‰

There are special events as well like shows and concerts so I’d suggest you to visit the official website to check out (click here) , maybe the day you intend going there’s something cool going on! πŸ˜‰

Haven’t had a chance to go yet, but looking forward to it later. With only a month and a half left here, we’re so booked with last things to do! Did you see if they have roasted chestnuts there?

    1. Yess they did!! I was so happy because at home we eat them often while here I couldn’t find them! They weren’t delicious but quite good! πŸ™‚

Great to know! I love roasted chestnuts. The ones in Germany were always delicious. We were just at the Edinburgh Christmas Market and there were none there, so I was a little disappointed. I had a hunch London would have. πŸ™‚

How beautiful, this post in itself makes me want to visit London so bad. Winter Wonderland looks so much, the lights and rides! Did you go on any of the rides? Also, I’m shocked that theres no line at the homemade donuts stand! That would for sure be my first stop lol Thanks so much for sharing this little piece of London with us!
